I think we need an appreciation for our regional use of the word “pop.”
I grew up in Pop Country, but went to college and lived in solid-red “Soda” territory until earlier this year.
It was awful! The indignity of having to say “soda” after a confused party wouldn’t take your choice of pop.
I first noticed it at Scotti’s when our waitress asked us what “pop” we wanted. No joke, it was in a bottle!
I haven’t picked up on it too much yet, but at UDF yesterday, I took a picture of the twins celebrating an entire aisle of ice cream and noticed in the background it said “Wine & Pop.”
Pop Forever.
Eastern Kentucky - pop!
Where I grew up both pop & soda are used interchangeably with the occasional sodapop (used in more rural areas) I have lived and worked in numerous area in Oregon and found this to be true as well.
