I have a rule about french fries: You can judge a place on its fries. Simply put, no place with bad fries can be a good restaurant. Doesn’t mean the inverse is also true, but Allyn’s Eclectic Cuisine in Columbia Tusculum had probably the best cajun fries I have had in… as long as I can remember.
The restaurant, which has been a mainstay in the neighborhood, recently changed hands. We went there before seeing Beauty and the Beast Jr. at the Taft Theatre, which is also when the Guardians played. 😬
Creamy Whip Season has come to an end, and the Mount Washington Creamy Whip mannequin is greeting passerby on Beechmont from the window.
I also popped into O'Smiley's Dolls & Collectibles in Mount Washington and learned from the owner about the Ohio Toy Trail and all of the vintage toy shops that Cincinnati (and the region) have to offer.
And what wouldn’t a weekend be without a trip to Lebo’s. I haven’t been inside Lebo’s yet, but I have heard crazy stories from some of you on BlueSky about it. Sounds like the kind of place I would have enjoyed back when I partook.
I intend to try it and Pig Candy BBQ at some point, but the county-approved cardboard deposit box is located in the Lebo’s parking lot, so as we unpack, I find myself there once or twice a week.
