What is this place?

That’s me there, in the middle.

Hey there! If you stumbled across this site, you’re probably wondering just what it is.

It’s an old-school blog (remember those?) I set up after we bought a place in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati. Before I joined the lucrative world of print journalism, I had a number of websites, including a personal blog, which died off.

Since I’m starting an adventure in a new city, I figure: why not document it?

What will I find here?

Mostly words, photos, and opinions. I like taking photos, so you’ll see those, and takes on local news—I have credentials and everything! I have a site with watch stories, if you’re into that sort of thing. I’ll probably be telling you about the restaurants, golf courses, and places we discover, as well as explaining things my friends back in D.C. won’t understand, like Goetta.

Why Mount Warshington?

iykyk. But that’s how some locals in the region talk, and the domain was for sale.

Who are you?

A 40 something husband, dad of twin girls, and owner of two terriers. I worked in politics for most of my life on campaigns and in Congressional offices, now I work in political journalism for a Washington-based publication I helped start.

I grew up in Ohio on the east side of Cleveland in Shaker Heights, attended St. Ignatius, went to college in Saint Louis, and lived in the Washington suburbs and exurbs for 17 years.

Will you be annoying about Cleveland sports?

Yes.

Does it cost?

This site? No.

Are you on social?

My bad takes are available nearly everywhere but TikTok and Snapchat.
